DirectTV pulls a bait and switch

Chipper

Dear Chris,

Thank you for subscribing to NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ from DIRECTV. We hope you're enjoying the season so far and are taking advantage of the great features that come with your DIRECTV service.

We want to remind you that if you want to watch all the NFL SUNDAY TICKET™ channels in HD, and watch games live on your mobile phone and your computer, you will need to also order SuperFan® —a separate premium service from DIRECTV.

DIRECTV is committed to providing you the best quality entertainment experience, including the ultimate sports coverage.

Sincerely,

DIRECTV Customer Service Team

P.S. Not only does SuperFan® allow you to watch your games in HD, it also lets you watch up to 8 games on 1 screen, catch all the plays inside the 20, see entire game recaps in 30 minutes, get scores and highlights on your mobile phone, and more!

WAIT! What? You mean it wasn't technical difficulties preventing me from watching the Packers in HD last weekend? You want another $100.00 of my hard earned money to give me something you should already be providing?

I don't care about game recaps, I have a DVR, YOU *censored*ING KNOW THAT I PAY FOR A DVR DAMNIT. I don't need to watch 'up to 8 games on 1 screen'. I want to watch the Dolphins and the Packers and all those other teams can lose and fall of the planet, but I Pay for HD service and I pay for the NFL Sunday Ticket.

Oh, side-rant. Sunday Ticket only covers Sunday games. Spectacular little detail left out of your grandiose marketing campaigns.

For the simple-minded DirectTV drone that stumbles on this I'll spell out what I want in a very simple sentence:

When I pay for both HD Service and NFL Sunday Ticket, I expect to see ALL the games in HD including Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday games. Like your advertising implies.

Hurricane Ike hits Charlotte

X-FilesWhy is there a fuel shortage in Charlotte when everyplace else has fuel? Why did our prices jump $0.40 to $0.50 the day Hurricane Ike landed in TEXAS? So, over two weeks ago a hurricane landed 1800 miles from Charlotte, yet today I was still rationed to $20.00 worth of fuel for my vehicle. I don't understand.

The Devastation of Wilma Day 4:A Gas Success Story

ChipperWent out alone looking for gas containers and at my second Home Depot (University Drive), I found some in stock. They turned out to be nice 6 Gallon containers which was a boon later on. Because of high demand, they limited us to purchasing two cans per person. While this sounds kinda hum-drum, it took more than two hours to accomplish, mostly standing in line to get inside Home Depot.

The Devastation of Wilma Day 3:Devastation and Cleanup

ChipperCindy got the call that her Boca Raton office had lost its roof in the storm. This building is a four story building and the office space is on the third floor so it was a bit suprising how the property manager emphasized over and over again that it was a total loss. There just wasn't enough rain in this storm for it to be that bad but soon we found out the real story. One of the Doctors call the property manager and got out that the fire suppression sprinkler system had malfunctioned and flooded all four floors of the building.

The Devastation of Wilma Day 2:A Gas Odyssey

Wilma+1

After spending the morning being stunned and reviewing damage information from Florida Power and Light and the local news stations, we trekked across broward county looking for an open gas station to keep our cars and generators running.

The Devastation of Wilma Day 1

We are now at Wilma+8 and my super gracious friend whom hosts llamas.net at his company has come back on the Internet, so I have some backlog of information and pictures to share. The short story is this: South Florida got hit hard. Really Hard. The pictures are uploading though we have 1.3GB of them now and it'll take time.

Hurricane Wilma Threatens South Florida

Come Monday October 24, 2005, we will be under the influence of yet another hurricane of this most amazing season. Current predictions show it will be a Cat 2 or Cat 1 by the time it arrives over our home, so we aren't too worried about it at this point. The big problem is how long its been sitting over the Ycatan Peninsula and not getting on with where its going to go next. I suspect that the devastation in Mexico will be just as epic as New Orleans was from Katrina due to the immense power of the storm and the painfully slow movement. for several hours where was no recorded movement of the eye (zero mph), however now at 11:00AM EDT, it is racing away at a whopping 2 mph.

We'll call this an Ex-Potato

X-FilesI don't know how it happened, but we we're baking some potatoes last night to accompany our dinner and when I went to retrieve said potatoes, I found this! We took a few pictures but have called in Mulder and Sculley to get to the bottom of this. While Fox and Dana are handling all the 'heavy lifting', I have but a single vexing question. Is it an 'Ex-Potato' or an 'X-Potato'? I'll put up a poll. -Chipper
